Today you travel to Rodriguez Key, which is close to Key Largo. The John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park and the largest artificial reef in the world are located in Key Largo, which bills itself as the “Dive Capital of the World.” The Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary is where you may go scuba diving.
Known as the “diving capital of the world” and the first of the stunning Florida Keys, this beautiful island is a water sports paradise, offering an abundance of activities like jet skiing, fishing excursions, swimming, snorkelling, and kayaking. Explore the underwater world and the stunning coral reef systems at the John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, or the 510-feet long USS Spiegel Grove, then venture to the nearby Everglades National Park, a vast and stunning wilderness area with diverse ecosystems where alligators sightings are not uncommon. Key Largo is the perfect destination for those seeking a relaxing and nature-filled moments, with crystal-clear waters and plenty of sunshine.

When it was acceptable to make money from shipwrecks, a castaway formerly lived on this lonely island. Today, it is a protected park with several interesting sites to see and lots of wonderful diving. Only boats may access it. You might want to pause in Islomarada for shopping and resupply. As with all of these islands, sport fishing and diving are well-known in Islamorada.

For something more adventurous, hike through the lush tropical forests of Lignumvitae Key Botanical State Park or head offshore for some deep sea game fishing. We set sail back to Coconut Grove today. You will have lots of opportunities to swim, snorkel along the way. Throw out a fishing line on the cruise back and you may be lucky enough to snag a mahi-mahi.
